At Sage Hill Sport Horses, our lesson program is designed for riders who want more than just time in the saddle. We believe great riders are built through strong fundamentals, quality instruction, and a genuine understanding of the horse.

Our selective hunter/jumper lesson program welcomes riders of all experience levels—from those meeting a horse for the first time to riders preparing to compete. Every lesson follows a progressive plan that develops confidence, balance, communication, and horsemanship.

Rather than focusing on simply “going for a ride,” our goal is to help every student become a knowledgeable, capable equestrian.

Our Approach

Every rider progresses at their own pace. Lessons are tailored to each student’s goals while emphasizing safety, proper equitation, and a partnership with the horse.

Students develop skills in:

Safe horse handling and grooming
Tacking and equipment knowledge
Balance and position
Flatwork fundamentals
Hunter and jumper skills
Horse care and stable management
Confidence, responsibility, and sportsmanship

As riders advance, opportunities may include cavaletti work, jumping courses, horse show preparation, and competition coaching.

School Horses

Sage Hill maintains a carefully selected group of experienced lesson horses suited to a variety of rider levels. Each horse plays an important role in helping students develop correct fundamentals while building confidence in the saddle.

As riders progress, they are thoughtfully matched with horses that will continue to challenge and develop their skills.

A Boutique Program

We intentionally keep our lesson program selective, so every rider receives individualized attention, and every horse receives the care and management they deserve.

Our goal is not to teach the greatest number of lessons—it is to develop confident riders, well-trained horses, and lasting partnerships.
